Well class... this is a word cloud. Each of you will make your own word cloud for this week's assignment. You can create this image by clicking on the following link:
Wordle
In this word cloud, I would like for each of you to include your name, the year (2013), and various words that describe the art that you enjoy. Once you have completed your word cloud, please post the image back onto this blog. In our next classroom session, we will print these out, and put them to good use!

Hello, Class!
This week I would like for each of you to view the following PowToon video:
PowToon Video
After you view this video, I would like for each of you to search google images to find an image that contains foreground, middleground, and background. Once you find your image, please write a comment back on this post explaining what the foreground, middleground, and background in your image is. If you can, please attach your image with your comment as well.
Here is an example:
FOREGROUND: the land with the lake
MIDDLEGROUND: the mountains
BACKGROUND: skyline
Having trouble understanding these concepts? Check this out: Capzles
If you are unable to attach your image, please bring a copy of it to our next class.
I'm looking forward to covering these concepts with y'all in our next session!

Releasing the Artist
Hello class! Welcome to our new classroom blog entitled,
"Releasing the Artist." Odd name, huh? Well, I chose this name
to create a visual image of my goal for this year. Imagine this:
There was once this young boy, so creative and full of adventure. Although
he did have a house, he would spend hours and hours running through the nearby
woods, creating forts from the loose tree limbs he found along the forest
floor. He would even scrape moss off of the trees and create rugs for his
forts. He loved living amongst his many new homes, and was his true self only
while he was living in these woods. One day, a strange man came into the
woods and captured the young boy. You see, this old man found the woods
to be dangerous. He hated that the young boy spent so much of his time there
instead of in his house. Therefore, the man took the boy to his house and
locked him inside. The boy longed to
venture off into the woods once more, but knew he could not since he was locked
inside his house. Then one day, an old
woman came looking for the boy. You see,
she too had noticed the boy in the woods.
She loved seeing the boy run through the woods, for the woods were her
true home as well. She searched until
she found the boy, locked away in this house.
As she approached the house, the strange man stopped her.
“You cannot release that boy back into the woods!,” exclaimed the
man, “For, those woods are deep, dark, and confusing. No one should explore
them.”
The old woman looked at the
man through endearing eyes. “We have to
allow him to explore the woods,” the woman said tenderly. “For if we don’t, he will forget them, just
as you did.”
So both the old woman and the old man released the boy and he
continued to explore and thrive in the woods.
This fun little story represents how if we don’t explore our
creativity, we will soon forget how to use it.
I am releasing you into “the woods.”
I want you to explore new things and to be creative. I also wish for all of you to not just learn
the basics about art, but to also learn more about yourselves as you create
art. This blog will be a great source in
which you can present your art, talk about ideas you have for art pieces, or
discuss other art pieces you enjoy. I
look forward to using this blog to continue our art exploration outside of the
classroom!
Please check in every Wednesday night to see your blog assignment
for the following week.
